Children’s Art Tuition

Private Art Tuition classes are 1 hour in duration. Private Art Tuition works for individuals and for small groups. Children that have a keen interest in Art and/or need help with their concentration levels, benefit greatly from these sessions. We primarily teach ages 6 to 11 but also those who need extra help with their GCSE’s.

The Art Tuition Project Categories:

  • Drawing.
Observational Drawing from real life and photographs using Pencils, Ink and Pastels. Techniques in proportion, shading, mark-making, texture and perspective.

  • Painting.
Step by Step Observational Painting using famous works of Art. Younger children use Tempera Paint and older children use Acrylics. Each Painting has been simplified by Leona and there are always opportunities for your child to add their own unique ideas to the artworks!

  • Sculpture.
Our favourite technique is a dry paper mache technique which allows us to build amazing sculptures with little mess! We also do clay and plasticine projects as well as mixed media.

  • Crafts.
Collage, Mosaic, Decoupage, Glass painting, Fabric Painting, Willow Sculpture, Mixed Media and Seasonal Projects.

  • GCSE’s.
Art Tuition Sessions focused on help with Art course work and/or exams.

All private Art Tuition Classes are 1 hour in duration and take place on Zoom.

Leona has a 2 camera set-up, which means there is one face camera and one overhead camera, focused on the artwork. The sessions are 1 hour in duration. Leona opens all online sessions 10 minutes before the start time, in order for your child to get comfortable and check they have everything they need.

One to One Tuition Classes are tailored to suit you and your child’s requirements. They are designed to help your child discover, develop, explore and enjoy new creative skills. They encourage children to communicate their ideas and express how they feel with no judgement. Art lessons have so many wonderful benefits including developing whole brain activity, coordination and confidence. They also support other school subjects such D.T and Science.

For regular sessions, Leona draws up a lesson plan to help get the most out of your child’s abilities. Leona has experience with teaching to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including children with mild autism, dyspraxia and those that are hearing impaired.

“We asked Leona to do a one-to-one arts and craft workshop for our 9 year old boy for a term and he absolutely loved it. I can’t recommend Leona highly enough as to how she engages people creatively. She’s immediately friendly, resourceful, multiskilled and has exactly the right approach to getting kids to develop their own arts & crafts imagination”.

Mr Fitzgerald, Islington, London

“We booked Leona for 4 Art Tuition sessions over half term which my daughter now can’t stop talking about and is very keen to do more. The different variety of ideas kept the children totally engaged. Leona managed to take their little minds to different places keeping excellent concentration at the same time, I cannot recommend her highly enough if your child is interested in Art!”

Leona is a fantastic art tutor with a friendly, relaxed style of teaching. She tutors our 7 year old privately. Our daughter loves these lessons and always looks forward to them. We’re always impressed with the high quality of paintings, drawings and imaginative objects our daughter shows us! Her artistic skills have been taken to a whole new level thanks to Leona!
